CROWLEY, TX, July 10, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Taka Bowen, Inclusion and Content Mastery Teacher of Special Education at S.H. Crowley Intermediate School, has been recognized as a Distinguished Professional in her field through Women of Distinction Magazine. Taka Bowen will be featured in Women of Distinction Magazine in 2016.
Contributing her former work as a counselor and in crisis intervention training to her success today as an Inclusion and Content Mastery Teacher of Special Education, Take Bowen is constantly inspired by her students. Known to be a very patient teacher, someone who facilitates learning on varied levels so that each and every one of her students can understand, she often inspires not only her students, but also fellow teachers to strive toward excellence in everything they do.
"I'm inspired by having the opportunity to encourage others that may feel defeated," Bowen said. "Even if one may feel that they have failed at something, my desire is to get that person to see that the failed task at hand is also a learning opportunity and stepping stone for them to build him or herself up to find an alternate route to success."
In Bowen's role, it is her responsibility to collaborate with students, parents, and other members of staff to develop and write individual education plans, as well as implement instructional, therapeutic, or skill development programs for her assigned students and show written evidence of preparation. She also conducts ongoing assessments of student achievement, serves as a Lead Case Manager for the campus of specialized services, performs crisis intervention and prepare individual service plans, as well as a host of other duties as a campus leader.
Bowen holds a BA in Psychology from Langston University and an MA in Education with emphasis on Educational Leadership from Concordia University. Inducted into the Honor Society while working toward her MA, she is also known for her 10 years of volunteer work with Big Brothers and Sisters of Oklahoma and working with the homeless population, and currently serves as a mentor for the local youth and is a Board Member for BridgesWork, which works with at-risk youth to target reading and social skills, as well as community service, incorporating a spiritual foundation.
