About Michaela Moss:
Ms. Moss is serving as a senior advisor for the federal and previously state government. Prior to this she ran a successful consultancy business for many years training in first aid, maritime and emergency response. Ms. Moss became involved in her profession because she was a practicing registered nurse since 1988, and became involved in volunteer marine rescue and working for helicopter rescue.

Ms. Moss is a quality system and ship safety management auditor, she holds diplomas in management, vocational education and training and education design and development, and Master _24m and Coxswain certificate. To prepare for her career, Ms. Moss earned a Postgraduate Certificate in Business from the Queensland University of Technology in 2009, and she received a Maritime Achievement Award for Competency Based Training Initiatives. She is also a registered nurse through the APHRA Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (non-practicting), holds a PADI License, and she is an International Open Water Diver and an Inshore Yacht Master through AYF.

Ms. Moss delivered a presentation at the Maritime 14 Conference entitled Matching Skills and Knowledge with Operational Need. The presentation included a discussion on the Vocational Education and Training regulatory requirements and the Maritime Training Package and Certificate of Competency Requirements (Licence). She is also the technical co-editor of "Small Ships Manual Version 6."

In five years, Ms. Moss intends to consult in other industries in vocational education, quality and risk management. She also hopes to help industries involved with safety management systems, technical writing and training materials.
