SAN FRANCISCO, CA, April 12, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- ICE Radar, an app released in the wake of Cesar Chavez Day, is tipping Spanish-speaking users on U.S. Immigrant and and Customs Enforcement's efforts against undocumented residents throughout the country. The application has drawn both ire and praise for exposing upcoming ICE raids and providing pro-immigrant legal counsel.

"You're a disgrace to America," wrote one of ICE Radar's vehement opponents in an email to app founder Armand Aranda. "[Your app] enables illegal aliens that...cause an enormous burden" to the country. But key figures in the immigrants' rights discourse are taking issue with the controversy ICE Radar has attracted. "President Trump is spreading propaganda [like this email's contents]," says Paul Chavez, grandson of Cesar Chavez and President of the Chavez Institute for Law and Social Justice. "No one checks him on being factual. [ICE Radar] is helping the community come together to educate one another."

Partnerships with nonprofit organizations and activist informants allow ICE Radar to broadcast trustworthy information to its user base, dominated by undocumented residents and their family members. One user, a DREAMer, relies on the app to safeguard his freedom in an uncertain political climate. "With Trump in office, I might still get deported. But [ICE Radar] will keep me safe even if he repeals the DREAM Act."

ICE Radar users praise the app for regular updates of key features, including advice-laden interviews from former ICE employees. Its accessibility and timeliness have earned the app recognition as a critical civil rights resource. "Cesar Chavez understood the importance of technology," noted Paul Chavez. "[The ICE Radar app] is a natural evolution of something he would have been apart of."

About ICE Radar: Available on iOS and Android, the app helps undocumented citizens and their families protect themselves against opposition from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Users can learn about forthcoming ICE raids and their rights in the event of arrest. Legal counsel and representation is also available through the app. Download the app now at iceradar.us.
