This audience has mastered the art of balance. She's shopping at both Nordstrom and Goodwill to get her style fix without overspending.
ST. LOUIS, MO, August 15, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- According to a survey conducted by style blog Budget Fashionista, most self-identified budget shoppers are not creating set spending limits for clothing purchases. The online survey collected responses from 100 women, 87% of whom identified themselves as budget fashionistas. Survey questions focused on how they budget their clothing spend and how sales influence their purchase decisions.
When asked about budgeting, only 13% of respondents stated that they had an established clothing budget. Exactly 50%, however, said they controlled their spending by only purchasing clothes they need. Thirty percent admitted to a more intuitive approach. These women shop when they want, and only stop spending when they feel they have spent too much.
Most of these need-oriented shoppers also decide to shop first, then look for sales while they are shopping, either online or in-person. When asked how they preferred to stay informed of store sales, respondents identified email and store websites as their top two choices. Interestingly, social media and direct mail were tied for third, followed by blogs. Coupon websites were the least popular information channel.
"The audience has mastered the art of balance. She's shopping at both Nordstrom and Goodwill to get her style fix without overspending," explained Catherine Brock, Budget Fashionista style editor. "And, she's not heavily influenced by sales messaging either. Much of that gets tuned out, until she's ready to buy."
