"Stay true to yourself with your artwork, put it all out there, nothing is impossible if it's genuine. The harder you work at something, the better you become," says Raul Samuel Molina, artist.
FORT WORTH, TX, January 10, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The beauty of Art is that it doesn't have to be explained and it doesn't necessarily have to be understood, everyone interprets it on their own depending on their own point of view. Art is on of those things you can't necessarily teach people, you can teach technique, but you can't teach creativity. Even when an artist takes classes to better themselves as a professional, the true art is in what they make out of those techniques. Art is in the interpretation, and artists such as Raul Samuel Molina prove it every day.
Earlier in the year, Box Office Warehouse Suites introduced itself to Fort Worth. Box Office Warehouse Suites is a business park located in North Fort Worth made entirely out of shipping containers, offering office space for rent, warehouse space with outdoor storage and retail space for lease with added glass store fronts. As innovative as this concept is, owner Ron Sturgeon still wanted to introduce the concept of shipping containers and business buildings to Fort Worth, and wanted to remind them that just because something isn't considered the norm doesn't mean that it doesn't work. That's how the idea of the Art on a Can contest came about, a contest that invited graffiti and street artists to compete for a chance to have their mural displayed on the side of the shipping container buildings at Box Office Warehouse Suites. Judges reviewed all contestant applications, and announced the five finalists that would compete for the grand prize, one of the top five finalists being Raul Samuel Molina, better known as The Grime Labs in the DFW Metroplex area.
Each of the five finalists will paint a mural on the side of a shipping container, and out of those five murals, the judges will choose a grand prize contest winner at the Graffiti and Street Art Festival in March. Talking to Molina about his art piece, he recalled that his piece was inspired by his love for cats. "My cat's love has inspired me in these last few years and somehow entered most of my artwork. I find images of cats entertaining and has been received really well." Molina has always been naturally attracted to the art world, since a young age he recalls. He describes his early life experiences as being fortunate enough to grow up in different places, Germany and Puerto Rico, where public murals and street art were present.
To Molina, being and artists means that he is able to work with passion and emotions. In his own words, "As so many artists create for different reasons, I believe concept or purpose for your artwork is essential to stay evolving with your artwork...the most rewarding part of my artwork is when someone comes to you expressing how your artwork inspired them to make artwork or made their day better."
A piece of advice Molina wants to share with young talent and just artists in general is this, "Stay true to yourself with your artwork, put it all out there, nothing is impossible if it's genuine. The harder you work at something, the better you become. Often, I am told that they wish they had the talent, I always remind them they can, they just need to keep practicing."
The Graffiti and Street Art Festival will take place on March 17, 2018 from 11 AM until 5 PM.
