LUGANO, SWITZERLAND, December 29, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Great success for the last months' activities promoted by the Consortium Italia di Vini & Sapori in Hong Kong.
The Consortium, which aim is to internationally enhance the Italian wine tradition of the Veneto region, showcased the quality of its fine wines in the Hong Kong market through some top initiatives in November and December.
Last November the Consortium participated in the Hong Kong International Wine & Spirits Fair with its own booth and during the exhibition it also hosted three exclusive master classes conducted by the professionally qualified wine educator JC Viens to introduce the diversity and potential of Veneto wines. The master classes presented a cross-section of carefully selected wines, providing an opportunity to discuss the characteristics of the different indigenous varieties and of the different appellations.
A couple of weeks ago the Consortium returned to Hong Kong to organize an exclusive dinner featuring Veneto wines at Gia Trattoria. The event, conducted by JC Viens, introduced wine lovers to the Veneto region, its climate, its key grape varieties and wine-making techniques and also included a guided tasting of a selection of wines to help guests develop a better understanding about wines from Veneto.
Hong Kong is definitely of strategic importance for Italy and for Italian wines. Hong Kong has a significant pool of experienced fine wine merchants with good wine knowledge and international wine trade experience. Since the removal of all duty-related customs and administrative controls in February 2008, Hong Kong has further developed into a wine trading and distribution hub for the region, particularly for the Chinese mainland. Furthermore, Hong Kong has entered into an agreement with the mainland Chinese Government, allowing wine imports to go into China under CEPA and enhanced customs facilitation measures. This makes the city an unrivalled gateway to China, and it is considered as the most cost-effective and convenient distribution hub to store the investment-grade wines for delivery to their markets on-demand.
The Italia di Vini e Sapori Consortium aims to support the wine tradition of the Veneto territory by stimulating and spreading an interest towards the quality wines of the Veneto territory. Amongst its priorities, the Consortium promotes P.D.O. and P.G.D.O. quality wines, taking them beyond European borders.
