LOS ANGELES, CA, October 12, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Los Angeles City Council President Herb J. Wesson Jr., real estate marketing guru Michael Lewis and the Pet Care Foundation will be honored for their humane commitment to Building a No Kill Nation - One Stray at a Time at the Stray Cat Alliance gala on Oct. 13.
Almost 300 of Los Angeles' most generous and compassionate animal lovers are expected to attend the event, called the Stray Cat Club, at 6p Oct. 13 at the Montage Beverly Hills, 225 N. Canon Drive.
Wesson will be honored with the Stray Cat Alliance Lionheart Award for his council leadership including the transition of a former South L.A. shelter into a haven of services for the most at-risk animals in Los Angeles. Stray Cat Alliance is one of three organizations who will have space at what is being called Jefferson Park. This allows Stray Cat Alliance to rescue, care for, and find forever homes for more cats who are at the greatest risk of being killed of any animal in our city's shelters.
Lewis will be honored with the Stray Cat Alliance Impact Award for his leadership, philanthropy and thousands of hours of volunteering since the inception of Stray Cat Alliance. Lewis is the founder and CEO of Michael Lewis Marketing Suite, which serves thousands of realtors and realty offices across the country including the Keller Williams Realty's nationwide network of Realtors.
The Pet Care Foundation will be honored with the Stray Cat Alliance Lifeline Award for its pioneering philanthropy on behalf of animals and cats. Founded by the late philanthropist Paula Kent Meehan in 2003, the foundation is dedicated to the advocacy of shelter animals in Los Angeles City and County Shelters. Meehan founded Redken, a brand that innovated scientific shampoos and the sale of products from hair salons. Meehan, who died in 2014, was recognized as an outstanding female business executive and as a philanthropist who contributed to the arts, the Los Angeles community and animal welfare.
American actor, comedian and musician Hal Sparks is the emcee for the event. He is known for his contributions to VH1, hosting E!'s Talk Soup and the Queer as Folk TV series.
Other celebrities expected to appear at the event include current Dancing With The Stars contestant Evanna Lynch of the Harry Potter series of films; Suzanne Cryer of Silicon Valley and The Fosters; and Grammy / Emmy / Golden Globe-award-winning composer and animal advocate Diane Warren. Warren is donating a tour of her animal sanctuary in Malibu as part of the gala's silent auction and is on the event's leadership committee. Warren has had nine No. 1 songs and 32 Top 10 songs. Her songs have been nominated for nine Academy Awards.
Other celebrity attendees include: Sierra McCormick; Concetta Tomei; Brandon Russell; Terri Apple; and the Too Hot Tamales celebrity chef and restauranteur Susan Feniger. Feniger co-owns Border Grill, Cuidad and other restaurants as well as authoring five cookbooks.
