CHICAGO, IL, October 04, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- On October 30th, ISM-Chicago's Emerging Leaders Committee will host a panel discussion and networking event titled "Bridging the Talent Gap." The engaging session will bring together a diverse group of Procurement professionals to address how the upcoming generation can develop their skills and advance in their careers. The event is the first organized by Source One Consultant Brandon Hummons since he was named the Committee's chair earlier this year. He and his fellow committee members hope this is just the first of many opportunities to engage and inspire future Procurement leaders.
The Institute for Supply Management (ISM) is a global non-profit that has supported Procurement and Supply Chain professionals since 1915. Local chapters like ISM-Chicago provide additional opportunities for professionals throughout the nation to network with industry peers and broaden their expertise. In addition to ISM-Chicago, Source One has partnered with ISM-Philadelphia, ISM-New Jersey and ISM-National to host a number of events and presentations.
The entire Emerging Leaders Committee expect the event will serve ISM's mission and provide attendees with an inside look at what excellence in Procurement can mean. Hummons remarks, "Our committee organized this event specifically for prospective professionals and emerging supply chain leaders. We hope to discuss the qualities supply chain executives are looking for and outline opportunities for developing them effectively. Ultimately, we want to cultivate future Procurement leaders. We want to help them close their own personal talent gaps to excel in an exciting new era."
The event promises to provide insights for both young professionals hoping to evolve and organizations looking to recruit and groom the right talent. Hummons and the Emerging Leader Committee intend to push the conversation beyond the job descriptions that have typically defined Procurement. "It's time to highlight what real Procurement experts want to see in the coming years," says Hummons. "It's becoming clearer and clearer that the talent gap is widening, and this event is all about arming the next generation with solutions for closing it."
The discussion will take place at Chicago's HERE Technologies from 3 to 6 PM and feature panelists including Consultant Marie Mensah and Procurement recruiting executive Naseem Malik. Topics of discussion include the technological advancements and economic uncertainty affecting Procurement groups each day – all with the aim of providing leaders and up-starts alike with insights they need to thrive in their unpredictable and quickly evolving profession. Attendees will also enjoy additional opportunities to network at a post-panel happy hour.
Later this fall, the Spend Management experts at Source One will also collaborate with ISM-New Jersey for a webinar on the ongoing trade war. During Tariffs and Trade War Uncertainty: What Can Procurement Do?, Senior Analyst Sam Cagle will dive into this evolving issue and offer tips for building a resilient Procurement function.
