SARASOTA, FL, November 17, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- A retired attorney, award-winning author, international speaker, workshop facilitator, and host of the blog talk radio show, "Dancing with Words, Dancing with Wisdom," Janet has become a master of words and their experiential meanings. A powerful player in the field of intentional conscious communication, she has learned how, through a unique combination of psychology, new thought, and ancient wisdom, to dramatically influence peoples' perceptions of themselves in more positive ways and offer them tools for contributing to harmony, co-creativity, and "power with" in their communities and the world.
At age 16, during the cold war, Janet became an American Field Service summer exchange student to Berlin, Germany, expanding her interest in global culture and people dynamics. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Swarthmore College and a Juris Doctor Degree cum laude from Rutgers School of Law. For 22 years, she practiced law in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Janet's fascinating, co-creative journey began over five decades ago, when she had an unexpected, life-changing experience. In a nanosecond, all the pieces of the human truth puzzle suddenly fell into place. Suddenly, she had great clarity and deep understanding.
Nothing outside her changed. The only thing that changed was the way she perceived and understood what was outside her.
The experience was so astounding and mesmerizing that Janet felt driven to share it with others. As she began talking, she was met with blank stares and uncomprehending faces. She was talking, but she wasn't communicating.
The question that arose, driving her onward was, "How can I use analytic, divisive words to communicate a unifying, holistic experience?" It was like trying to use a screwdriver to hammer a nail. It was like a Zen koan. It couldn't be done. At least, it couldn't be done perfectly.
The I Ching states, "The Tao that can be spoken is not the Eternal Tao."
Buddhism states, "Words are fingers pointing at the moon. They are not the moon."
After struggling for 15 years with the question, "How can I use analytic, divisive words to communicate a unifying, holistic experience," one word suddenly changed. The question became, "How can I use analytic, divisive words to facilitate a unifying, holistic experience?" That was do-able, although how to do it changed in each and every moment depending on the dynamics of each situation. Dr. Janet now found herself dancing with words and wisdom in a multitude of living, breathing, meaningful conversations with other unique human beings.
Alfred Korzybski said, "The map is not the territory."
Janet adds, "The words are not the experience. The menu is not the food we eat." How could Janet use words to bring each of us back to the core, present-moment experience of Being, from which each one of us can consciously use words to co-create the kind of world in which we want to live?
Janet's book Shift: Change Your Words, Change Your World, an Amazon Best Seller and Next Generation Indie Book Award winner, is a tool for expanding consciousness. Her article "Freedom from Fear," included in J Kim Wright's American Bar Association bestselling book, Lawyers as Peacemakers: Practicing Holistic, Problem-Solving Law, discusses the trauma of fear and how to release it. She has also blogged on this universal challenge, as well as on transforming rage, perception shifts, and word healing. She has created YouTube videos, such as "Free Yourself from Fear Forever" and "What are You Going to Do with Your One Precious Life?"
A confident public speaker, Janet has been delivering workshops since 2006 with titles such as "Change Your Words, Change Your World," "Ask the Right Questions to Get the Answers You Need," "Free Yourself from Fear Forever," and "Dancing with Words, Dancing with Wisdom." She is a seasoned radio and TV talk show guest and has appeared on a variety of shows including "Dare to Dream Radio" with Deborah Dachinger; "Waking Up—Learning What Your Life is Trying to Teach You" with John Earle; "Shifts of Mind for a World of Renewal" with John D. Schmidt, and "Turning Point" with Frank MacKay.
To expand her own consciousness, Janet has trained with motivational coaches Mark Victor Hansen, Robert Allen, Bob Proctor, John Childers, and T Harv Eker. She has broken boards with her hand, eaten fire, participated in sweat lodges and ayahuasca ceremonies, walked across hot coals in her bare feet, and, with a partner, bent a steel rebar using only her neck. She has written academic papers while pursuing a Ph.D. with The Wisdom School of Graduate Studies. She has studied with some of the most influential spiritual leaders and visionaries of our time: Matthew Fox, Andrew Harvey, Oscar Miro Quesada, Barbara Marx Hubbard, Jean Houston, Joanna Macy, and Ken Wilber. She has traveled to spiritual centers and sacred sites around the planet, including Sedona, Arizona, Ojai, California, Machu Picchu, Peru, Chartres, France, Glastonbury, UK, Sintra, Portugal, and Tamil Nadu, India, where she has learned from the local energies and wisdom keepers.
Janet is incredibly grateful to her Unitarian parents, who instilled in her a passion for play, exploration, learning, and dedication to standing firmly for fairness, accountability, truth and justice She has a clear vision: a joyful planet where everyone maximizes their full human potential, finds fulfillment in doing what they love, and shares their gifts easily and willingly, contributing to and co-creating a living, breathing, dynamic, peaceful, powerful, prosperous planet.
