Jan Pack, RN, BS, COS-C, has been recognized with the Florence Nightingale Award of Nursing by the International Association of Who's Who

Jan Pack, RN, BS, COS-C, from Osceola, Iowa, is honored by the International Association of Who's Who with the Florence Nightingale Award of Nursing for her outstanding contributions within the field of Nursing.



    OSCEOLA, OH, December 04, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Jan Pack is a Registered Nurse Case Manager with The Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society, Home Care Indianola IA. She had been administrator at the agency for over 5yrs prior to her semi-retirement, at the end of 2017 and continuing with her career. With over 48 years of experience in the medical field, Ms. Pack specializes in Administration, Rehabilitation, Surgery, Dementia, Wounds, and Home Care.

Ms. Pack received her Nursing diploma from Addenbrooks Hospital in Cambridge UK, qualifying in 1974. She then became Certified in Midwifery before moving to the US in 1977. In an endeavor to further her education and medical knowledge, Mrs. Pack graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Health Care Administration from St Leo University in Florida.

After receiving her degree, Ms. Pack became a Certified Home Health Administrator, a Certified OASIS Specialist (Clinical), and a Certified Operating Room Nurse. She also regularly works as a Legal Nurse Consultant, developing her skills, making sure all documentation she reviews, and audits of medical records remain legally written.

Ms. Pack's extensive experience in the healthcare field is demonstrated through her success throughout her career, including her roles as Assistant OR Manager for Morton Plant Mease, Director of Surgical Services for St. Mary's Good Samaritan Inc., and Director of Home Care for True Care Professionals. To further her professional development, Jan is a member of the National Association of Homecare and Hospice, the Association of Operating Room Nurses, the Iowa Homecare Association, the Iowa Association of Healthcare, the International Association of Top Professionals, the Continental Who's Who, the Oxford Who's Who, and the International Nurses Association.

In the midst of her nursing career, Ms. Pack enjoyed almost 6 years as a nurse employed by agencies in between contracts working aboard the Holland America cruise line, and others, where she, and her husband Robert, was one of the professional ballroom/Latin teams along with several other roles. Whilst aboard, Ms. Pack assisted where needed pregnant and ill passengers as well as the physicians on smaller islands they visited where healthcare was difficult to obtain.

Throughout her career, Ms. Pack has been the recipient of many awards and accolades, demonstrating her extensive contributions to the medical field. In 2019, she was recognized by Continental Who's Who as a Lifetime Achiever in Nursing For 2020, she is being considered for a feature in Top Industry Professionals Magazine and is also being considered for the Empowered Woman of the Year Award. For 2020, she has also been selected Top Nurse of the Year by the International Association of Top Professionals and, as a result, will be honored at their Annual Awards Gala which will be held at the Plaza Hotel in New York.

Ms. Pack's passion for nursing is reflected in her determination in making sure all patients are individually cared for in every circumstance. Her goal of being the best she can be in her field is achieved through the time and care given to every task and every patient. Ms. Pack also attributes her success to her perseverance and the mentors she has had throughout her career.

When not at work, Ms. Pack loves spending time with her friends and family and is enjoying her semi-retirement. She also likes to bake non-allergic/vegan baked foodstuffs for her local farmer's market which she calls 'Jan's Artisan Delights'. In the future, she hopes to continue positively impacting the lives of her patients and contributing to her community.

She dedicates this to her mother Hazel who she lost at age 16yrs to cancer, her aunts Maisie, and Connie who were nursing auxiliaries, and to her English teacher at high school Mr. Smith who persuaded her to stay on, and was able to achieve the education required to enter Addenbrooks where her career began.
