"...the urge for Wito Africa Safaris to empower women is very personal – it goes beyond the traditional initiatives to support the local community."
NEW YORK, NY, March 09, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- As we celebrate the International Women's Day, Wito Africa Safaris is very thrilled to honour this special day by donating a cow to help women receive much needed income to support their children through school and improve the standard of living in their households. The company believes that by providing a cow to one of the women's groups they support, it will give the important nutrients that young children need to grow strong and focus in school whilst providing additional money to support the family's subsistence economy. Wito Africa emphasizes that the self-sustaining ripple effect of benefits that the donation of a cow will bring for families in need is immeasurable. On a daily basis, most cows produce about eight gallons per day on average which is equivalent to approximately 128 glasses of milk per day. Therefore on average one cow provides up to 5,000 gallons or 80,000 glasses of milk in its healthy lifetime.
When asked about the importance of giving back to women and children, the founder of Wito Africa Safaris, Abdullie Mfinanga said that he knows very well the struggles that women in Tanzania faced since his mother, Farida Mushi (well known as Mama Nas) raised him and his other siblings in such a tough environment. As a single mother, Mama Nas had a massive responsibility to feed, clothed and send all of her children to school only by selling tea and chapati "flat bread" at a gas station. To say the least, Abdullie feels like the urge for us to empower women is very personal – it goes beyond the traditional initiatives to support the local community.
Wito Africa Safaris reports that they plan on making this donation an annual tradition with the first donated cow being presented by their first ever all-WOMEN photographic journey in Arusha, Tanzania in March 2021. The scheduled women's photographic safari will start from the Kilimanjaro International Airport on February 25, 2021 and it will end on March 8th, 2021. This unique safari experience will be hosted by American photographer Joanne Matson. Joanne has been fortunate to capture amazing images in Botswana, Morocco, Namibia, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
This 12-day/11-night private guided safari will take this small group of women on a journey to some of Tanzania's most prolific wildlife areas. Guests will have an opportunity to witness thousands upon thousands of wildebeest and zebra herds as they give birth in the green rolling plains of the Southern Serengeti and Ngorongoro (Ndutu area). Every year, during the calving period of January-March nearly a million wildebeest congregate on the plains of the Serengeti and Ndutu regions to give birth to approximately 400,000 calves (usually in synchronized manner), making this a wildlife spectacle not to be missed! The abundance of game and fresh births attracts many predators (lion, cheetah, wild dogs, leopard...etc) therefore providing an abundance of fantastic wildlife and photographic opportunities in each of the areas that are included in this photographic wildlife safari. Women photographers of any level are all very welcome on this life-changing tour as well as keen wildlife enthusiasts. If you wish to join Joanne, you can email or call Wito Africa Safaris at 315.805.4040 for details. Limited seats are available on a first come, first serve basis.
