Black Women Entrepreneurs Create Scholarships For The Next Generation of Leaders

    RICHMOND, VA, February 11, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- One of the largest barriers to higher education within Black families reside in financial savings and support, and Altimese Curry, The Founder of The Ezer Agency, is no stranger to this statistic. After attending Virginia Commonwealth University for her undergraduate studies, she found herself with a Communications degree and 50K in private student loans. Now, as an agency owner, she's beginning her journey to shift the narrative for many young Black girls, like her.

In August 2020, The Ezer Agency's Founder, Altimese Curry, petitioned other Black Women Business Owners to join her in supporting future Black women leaders, and three businesses answered the call to action. Candice Nicole Public Relations, MissionKey Communications, LLC, and Author, Mia Brabham will join The Ezer Agency in investing 10K for the scholarship through The Girls For A Change Nonprofit organization.

Girls For A Change (GFAC) is a nonprofit youth development organization aimed at empowering Black girls and other girls of color to visualize their bright futures and potential through discovery, development, innovation, and social change in their communities.

"Showing up for our young Black girls is a reminder to them that they matter. They are seen. Their dreams are heard, and we support them," says Altimese Curry.

Scholarship details are as follows:
The Ezer Scholarship for Virginia Commonwealth University: $1000, with a five-year commitment
The Ezer Scholarship: $500, with a four-year commitment
The CNPR Future Publicist Scholarship: Two $500 scholarships
Confident Creative Scholarship: $1000 scholarship
Note to Self Scholarship: $1000 scholarship

The scholarships will be offered to girls enrolled in the GFAC Girl Ambassador Program, a workforce development program for High School girls designed to help prepare them for the future of work.

The submission period begins on February 10, 2021, and concludes on April 30, 2021. Official winners will be announced in June for the Fall 2021 semester.
