/24-7PressRelease.com/ - Garden City - New York, April 6, 2005 - TIAS.com (http://www.tias.com) celebrates their 10th year selling on the Internet. The Web start-up came online in April of 1995 with just two online merchants. Today the TIAS "Mall" hosts over 730 merchants with 560,000 antiques and collectibles for sale online.
The Internet is an extremely dynamic sales environment. The key to long term survival is to respond quickly to changing market conditions and the needs of your customers. Over the past 10 years companies like eBay that once dominated the online antiques and collectibles market, have experienced a "market slip" over the past few years. As it becomes more difficult for sellers to make a profit on eBay, merchants have turned to alternative venues to sell their merchandise. It is not uncommon in the current online sales environment to find a single antique and collectible dealer with a store on eBay, TIAS, their own "private label" Web site, as well as sites on two or three other online antiques and collectibles malls. By spreading their merchandise over many different online venues, merchants can reach a larger audience of potential buyers.
Attracting customers is an ongoing struggle for any Internet business. The bottom line for growth in an online business is to find new customers, create an environment where customers are comfortable doing business with you and getting customers to return for future purchases. Anyone can build an online store and stock it with merchandise, but that business will only succeed if it can attract and retain customers for the long term.
"The primary reason we are still around after so many other online businesses have come and gone, is our emphasis on attracting customers to our Web site." said Phillip Davies, President of TIAS.com "We've built an environment for our customers where they feel comfortable purchasing from TIAS merchants because they know we've been around for ten years and our merchants are reputable."
As TIAS begins its second decade online, the staff would like to thank all of their merchants and shoppers and everyone who has helped to build TIAS into the Internets' largest antique and collectible mall. In the coming months, the company has plans to substantially expand the reach of their marketplace for sellers. Later this year TIAS will also launch several new initiatives designed to further increase customer satisfaction and draw even more first time buyers to the site.
