Vantage reps are glad to talk to when you want to book a tour or pay for one, but, based on our experience, they are hard to find when service issues pop up. --Ron Sturgeon, World Traveler
FORT WORTH, TX, October 12, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Worldwide travelers Ron Sturgeon and Linda Allen are hoping to travel as frequently as they did before Covid someday soon. With more than 200 worldwide trips in the last ten years, the pair has attracted quite a following on their Facebook page where they share their adventures abroad.
"We've done a luxury trans-Siberian railway journey, dog sledding to an ice hotel in Sweden and Piranha fishing on the mighty Amazon River," said Sturgeon, an entrepreneur and commercial real estate developer based in Fort Worth, Texas.
"We usually travel by ourselves, but sometimes book group travel tours if the destinations are enticing enough," said Allen. "Some group travel tour companies are much better than others, "said Sturgeon. Yampu is a full-service agency, very personal, and has excellent prices, according to Sturgeon.
"In contrast, we've had awful experiences with Vantage Travel," said Sturgeon. He noted the company sends him several emails per day promoting upcoming tours, but the company recently decided to keep a $2000 deposit on a trip that the couple had to reschedule because of Covid-19. It can be hard for travelers to find travel company reviews added Sturgeon.
"We understand Covid presents issues for tour companies, but we have found Vantage Travel's customer service lacking," said Sturgeon, who mentioned getting no reply to multiple emails to Vantage Travel about service issues. "Vantage reps are glad to talk to when you want to book a tour or pay for one, but, based on our experience, they are hard to find when service issues pop up," said Sturgeon.
"We also mailed certified letters to their corporate headquarters with no response. You should be suspicious of those companies that don't help resolve issues but are quick to take your mone, added Sturgeon. The best luxury group travel companies best know better than to send 1-3 emails daily to prospects, according to Sturgeon.
We also highly recommend Ultimate Travel in the UK. We love our local agent Lisa Allen with True Travel, who can arrange most trips, including international destinations. "She's the best for really personal service, though she works by herself; she has been helping travelers for over 30 years, so she has seen just about everything," noted Sturgeon.
"Travel is such a personal thing and we certainly have enjoyed visiting so many different places and sharing our experiences with people who follow us on Facebook," added Allen.
Last year, the couple sent a 4-page letter filled with travel tips to their friends to share all they have learned in their more than 200 trips. The letter included tips on how to pick luggage, packing, visas, customs, currency exchange and even pet sitting. Linda wrote a section of the letter travel tips just for the ladies, and Ron offered some tips that were just for globe-trotting dudes.
Here is some advice they offered about luggage: Travelling internationally, we often encounter places where we must carry our own bags or places where escalators and elevators are non-existent or out of service. A bag that weighs more than 50 pounds will be hard for you and hard for airline employees to manage. Make sure your luggage locks because some destinations insist upon it and that your bags are spinners with four wheels to make life easier for yourself. When you chose baggage, settle on a single color so that your bags are easy to spot on the belt. Avoid black because it is such a common color for bags.
Last year, they sent a small self-published book featuring crazy toilet signs from around the world, along with some other oddities they had encountered.
"We look forward to helping others as we add to our followers, and we love sharing our travels with people who might be looking for their next travel adventure," said Allen.
