Songs for Sound was born out of a passion to help people bridge the gap between "I think I have hearing loss," to connecting them with the right services to get the help they need.
"We know it takes people of all ages 7-10 years on average to get help with hearing loss," said SFS co-director and audiologist, Miranda Weidle. "Historically, there hasn't been a positive light cast on hearing health solutions. We want to end the stigma and help people become advocates for their own hearing health journey. Our approach is focused on each person as an individual."
The organization provides free hearing screenings via a state-of-the-art DIY Otokiosk hearing screening is taken aboard its mobile experience. Then, a Care Team advocate is available to guide anyone needing support with next steps, including identifying coverage in health insurance and making a match with the right audiologist, locally.
"We serve from a place of love and compassion based on one little girl's story," said Weidle. "We are on a mission and engaging Americans into a movement to change the way the world thinks about hearing health."
Finally, the team offers programs for support for a lifetime through its Hardaway's Hope program.
"My daughter, Lexi, was misdiagnosed for nearly two years of her life. Upon her diagnosis, she was implanted bilaterally with cochlear implants and is living a normal life. However, we wandered searching for answers and had little guidance," said Jaime Vernon, Songs for Sound's founder. "So it is with that first-hand experience and love for those going through something similar to what my family did that has propelled the Songs for Sound organization to help ensure anyone with hearing loss receives the help they need to live a fulfilling life they deserve."
