As we enter the winter months and temperatures drop across the Midwest, the termination of Line 5 will undoubtedly further exacerbate shortages and price increases in home heating fuels
MANHATTAN, IL, November 10, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Today, Jack Lombardi, Republican Congressional candidate for Illinois' Sixteenth Congressional District called on Joe Biden not to shut down Michigan's Pipeline Five. Lombardi said closing the pipeline after already closing the Keystone XL Pipeline would be devastating. He pointed out that Pipeline Five is considered the lifeblood for most of the Midwest, especially Illinois. Residents of Illinois cannot afford to pay higher gas prices especially with the onset of winter to appease the far left of the Democratic Party Lombardi said.
The Biden Administration is considering shutting down the pipeline in another push to get the U.S, away from fossil fuels. Biden told the COP26 conference in Glasgow this weekend that the U.S. will become world leaders in the climate change fight. He is fighting to close pipelines across the nation. The average price of gasoline in Illinois is currently $3.65 and expected to reach $4.00 if the pipeline is closed. In addition, many are fearing that this winter, natural gas prices will soar.
"We cannot afford Joe Biden closing another pipeline to appease Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the climate control extremists while average Americans struggle to purchase a gallon of gasoline," said Jack Lombardi. "Should this pipeline be shut down, tens of thousands of jobs would be lost across the region; billions of dollars in economic activity would be in jeopardy; and everyday Illinoisans will suffer.
"Furthermore, as we enter the winter months and temperatures drop across the Midwest, the termination of Line 5 will undoubtedly further exacerbate shortages and price increases in home heating fuels like natural gas and propane," concluded Lombardi. "All of this at a time when Americans are already facing rapidly rising energy prices, steep home heating costs, global supply shortages, and skyrocketing gas prices because of the failures of Joe Biden."
