Neurodiversity Recruitment Advertising Platform www.workability.one Earns COBID Certification as an Emerging Small Business

Beat the Worker Shortage with Inclusive Hiring Strategies through www.workability.one

BEND, OR, February 02, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The State of Oregon's Certification Office for Business Inclusion and Diversity (COBID) has certified Bend-based recruitment advertising platform http://www.workability.one as an Emerging Small Business (ESB), a Woman Business Enterprise (WBE), and a Minority Business Enterprise (MBE).

"We're very appreciative of COBID's certification, because it opens more doors to corporate supplier diversity programs," said Sheila Jordan, Founder and Managing Director.

"Workability is a social enterprise that focuses on connecting neurodiverse, autistic, and developmentally disabled job seekers with forward-thinking employers who have the corporate culture and infrastructure in place to help them succeed in a new workplace," she added.

According to the recently published book The Neurodivergent Job Candidate, 35% of 18-year-olds with an autism spectrum diagnosis attend college, yet they have a 75–85% under-employment and unemployment rate after graduation.

While organizations are looking to expand their diversity and inclusion hiring efforts to include neurodivergent professionals, current recruiting and interviewing practices in general are not well-suited to this. With over one-third of the US population identifying as neurodivergent, employers need to address how to attract this talent pool to take advantage of a meaningful segment of the workforce.

"There are approximately 5 million college-educated autistic adults in the U.S. who are either unemployed or underemployed," said Jordan. "We could go a long way toward beating the worker shortage if employers had the courage to initiate inclusive hiring strategies. Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) programs should also include neurodiversity and 'invisible disabilities' such as dyslexia, ADHD and other chronic conditions."

Employers can post job openings online at http://www.workability.one/post.

Workability was launched in the Fall of 2021 to determine "proof of concept." After receiving positive feedback and job postings, Founder and Managing Director Sheila Jordan decided to pursue this venture full-time in January 2022. These efforts have paid off with Workability's recent certification as an Emerging Small Business, a Minority-Owned Enterprise, and a Woman-Owned Enterprise by the State of Oregon's Certification Office for Business Inclusion and Diversity (COBID). http://www.workability.one or at www.ORcobid.com
