MANHATTAN, IL, March 29, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Today Jack Lombardi, Republican Candidate for Congress in Illinois' 16th Congressional District, criticized Congresswoman's plan on stimulus checks to a select few to ease the pain at the pump. Lombardi has been calling for a suspension of the gas tax.
"For months, I have been challenging Congresswoman Underwood on the failed energy policies of Biden. She has voted 100 percent with Biden so she owns the price gas! Now that she is feeling the political pressure of people having had enough of paying over $4 per gallon, she has thrown out a token gesture. Give me a break! Give all of us a break," said Lombardi. "People need relief at the pump now not a check in months. She just wants to deliver a check at the time people are voting. Underwood doesn't care about the people only politics and keeping her job."
Lombardi believes that the stimulus checks being proposed by Underwood do nothing to provide immediate relief. Moreover, he doesn't like that the checks would be only targeted to certain groups.
"This not a complicated issue to ease the pain at the pump. First, Congress should suspend the gas tax. Second, Congress should reverse Biden's energy policies. That will fix the problem," said Lombardi. "But we all know Underwood doesn't want to fix the problem. She wants us all on bikes. Voters should be outraged by Underwood's latest political gimmick."
