Peters: Violent National Crime Wave is Born from Progressive Bail Reforms

    LAS VEGAS, NV, April 20, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Today Sam Peters, United States Air Force veteran, Bronze Star recipient, and Republican candidate for Congress in Nevada's 4th District, denounced bail reforms that have been advocated by the far left and implemented in various states, including his home state of Nevada. From cashless bail to low bail, violent offenders are being released due to these soft-on-crime measures by progressive politicians. With violent crime at a rise not seen since the 1960s, Peters said bail reform is a get out of jail free card encouraging criminal behavior. He mentioned a case in Houston, Texas where an 80-year-old grandmother was killed by a suspect who had committed 67 crimes and was out on low-bail for a violent crime. Just this weekend, in South Carolina, Peters cited reports that the suspect who shot up a mall injuring 14 people was released on just $25,000 bail. In New York City, bail reform is directly attributable to the worse crime wave since the 1970s. Progressive politicians have made bail reform their next social experiment at the expense of American citizens and the safety of our communities. Politicians who support these radical bail reform proposals are siding with violent criminals, not the victims or a concerned society, Peters said.

"Violent crime is out of control and the Democrats across the country, and right here in Nevada, are advocating bail reform based on what a criminal can afford, not what is appropriate for the crime, the victim, or a safe society," said Sam Peters. "These radical politicians and their woke policy reform proposals are to blame for the spate of violent crimes ravaging our communities nation-wide.

"Criminals know they can commit crimes and because of these bail reform laws they will be back out in the streets within hours," continued Peters. "The politicians who support these reforms – like those that voted for Nevada Assembly Bill 424 in 2021 - have blood on their hands. In Congress, I will oppose any legislation that gives more credence to criminals than to law abiding citizens and our children. The time has come to take back our country from the criminal element and woke progressive politicians."
