SAN ANTONIO, TX, August 19, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Military Spouse Advocacy Network (MSAN), with presenting sponsor Defense Credit Union Council (DCUC), is delighted to announce the 50 military spouses selected for the 2022 cohort of the Military Spouse Leadership Development Program (MSLDP).
To view a complete list of selected participants, including their photos, bios, and location information, please visit www.militaryspouseadvocacynetwork.org/msldp22-selectees.
The tremendous success of MSLDP's inaugural cohort in 2021 encouraged more than 900 military spouses to pursue one of 50 vacancies in 2022.
Selectees were asked to submit professional resumes, personal references, and engage in MSAN's Mentorship-HUB. Candidates were selected based on their personal and professional commitment to leadership, exemplary community improvement, dedication to lifelong learning, and strong desire to influence their communities positively.
The cohort will complete a virtual four-month training program focused on learning the fundamentals of leadership, service, advocacy, and mentorship from world-renowned institutions and professionals, impactful voices in the community, and support from MSLDP alum. Training and certifications are provided by:
Harvard University, National Preparedness Leadership Initiative
McChrystal Group, McChrystal Academy
Psych Hub
Verenice Castillo, MSAN's Founder & CEO, shared her excitement about MSLDP's 2022 cohort: "Military Spouses are considered movers and shakers because of their service, leadership, mentorship, and advocacy for the change they want to see in their communities. They are leaders with visions, and they need and deserve the opportunity to receive guidance, support, and official training to help them reach their goals. We are honored to receive DCUC's support and commitment to join this effort and provide future leaders in our communities with the fundamentals to be successful."
Anthony Hernandez, President and CEO of the Defense Credit Union Council, committed his support to the finalists as well: "As a former commander and now President/CEO of the Defense Credit Union Council, I firmly believe our military spouses make incredible contributions to the success of our Armed Forces. Learning how to focus and target this energy through leadership development is a force multiplier. I am very proud of the work the MSAN Leadership Program provides, the ongoing work of its graduates, and now this second cohort of talented spouses. I hope each learns and experiences the best training from our Nation's leading institutions and work together to make things better!"
The first MSLDP cohort was an overwhelming success thanks to support from our steadfast partners, Caliber Home Loans and Lockheed Martin. This year, the Veterans United Foundation joined the growing collaboration. Now, MSAN is seeking additional funding to offer this training to more spouses throughout the year.
