PITTSBURGH, PA, September 16, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- It's the 39th fall harvest festival at Penn's Colony! Join the historical reenactors, period musicians, and craft artisans while experiencing "Publick Tymes" of the mid-1700s - a harvest festival celebrated by the colonists of British, German, Scottish, and Irish descent. Located on the Penn's Colony Village Grounds, 365 Saxonburg Blvd, Saxonburg, PA 16056, just off Route 228 East, 1 mile outside Saxonburg, 30 minutes from Downtown Pittsburgh. Dates/times: Saturday, September 17 and 24, from 10:00 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday, September 18 and 25 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Enjoy the outdoor fall experience of Penn's Colony Festival revisiting the Early American Heritage of bustling, colonial life during General George Washington's historic three-month-long trek through our region in 1753-54 that led to events that sparked the French and Indian War. Juried artisans in the "Craftsman's Marketplace" offer a variety of handmade items, both traditional and contemporary. Fine food purveyors serve the food of the day. Lots of "pioneer pastime" activities entertain children while realistic battle re-enactments show skirmishes between the French and British in their quest to gain control of our region.
All new this year:
• Expanded Historic Battle Reenactments as Captain William Trent's Company is joined by The Rangers of the Ohio Company, who represent the British and colonial settlers.
• Compagnie LeBoeuf and the French Marines, join the French Cavalry.
• In the Encampment area -- more demonstrations and discovery tables with presenters all versed in the history and artifacts of the time.
• Music of the Celtic and Gaelic period features performing Sea Shanties, Pirate Songs, and Celtic music. Groups change daily.

• Dee and Paddy and Friends – (Wheeling, WV) a six-piece traditional acoustic Celtic group led by Dee and Paddy Coughlan.
• Druid Song – Vocalist Bruce Golightly (Pittsburgh) leads Druid and country works.
• Crossed Cannons -- Matt Hughes (Carrick) as Angus McHugh and Shawn Howland (Blairsville) as Howlin' Mad Jack Howland perform a Celtic/Pirate Act that includes Sea Shanties, Celtic Tunes, and Pirate Music.
• Skara Brae – Songs from the Gaelic Isles with penny whistle and great vocals
• Rich Patrick Celtic trio
• Brigadoon Highlanders Pipes and Drums will stroll the grounds

• Chocolate Moonshine featuring an assortment of delectable fudge.
Returning Food Artisan Favorites include handcrafted soups, wild meat jerkies, gourmet nuts, sausages, pork barbeque, traditional Greek fare, smoked chicken, mac n' cheese, smoked turkey legs, and freshly baked bread straight from the stone hearth of the era.

• Faire Wynds 18th Century Circus -- Eric and Susan Scites blend history, magic, and showmanship with sideshows, 800-year-old Hindu Needle Mystery, magic sword basket, and Glass Harp.
• Author of "Pittsburgh's Lost Outposts", Jason Cherry, will display and discuss the differences between the items Captain William Trent and his soldiers carried in 1753 while staking claim to the "Forks of the Ohio" (now known as Golden Triangle) and Ohio Valley for the British. His book will also be available.
Admission:
Tickets are $10 for adults (16 to 59), $8 for seniors (60+), $6 for children (8 to 15), and free for children 7 and under. Group rates and educational itineraries are available. FREE on-site parking is available. Pets are not allowed.
