LOS ANGELES, CA, December 24, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Damin Robot (CEO Bok-hyun Kang), which is participating in the 'Close-to-Life Contact-Free Leading Service Project' implemented by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National IT Industry Promotion Agency (Chairman Seong-wook Heo, hereafter referred to as NIPA), is a robot company that provides specialized robot services.
'Close-to-Life Contact-Free Leading Service Project', in which this company is participating for the second year this year, is a project that NIPA has been implementing since last year. It is a project that develops, demonstrates, and spreads contact-free leading services that are closely related to the daily life of the people. The response from participating companies is very positive. Founded in October 2019, Damin Robot has been selected as a designated task (autonomous mobility kiosk) for this project and is carrying out the project. As one of the autonomous service robot, a 'guide robot based on self-driving to improve hospital patients' experience' will be developed and demonstrated.
CEO Bok-hyun Kang said, "Our company's mission is to improve people's value and quality of life by helping people work and increasing efficiency by using robots. In hospitals, factories, restaurants, cafes, and offices with a lot of logistics flow, robots are improving work efficiency by replacing people with goods transport services. In addition, in order to create high added value business, we are providing specialized robot services based on our know-how in robot product development and field application experience."
Since its establishment in 2019, the company has achieved the following: •Supplying and maintaining logistics robots (September 2020) •Supplying guide robots for exhibition halls and museums (October 21) •Developing and supplying of 3D sensors for smart factories (December 21) • Supplying Autonomous robots for hospitals(in progress)
The 'Surgical guide robot' developed and supplied by this company is a product to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and prevent increased patient dissatisfaction for the same procedure for patient identification and surgical site confirmation. University hospitals, large hospitals, and small and medium-sized hospitals are used as demand sources to reduce patient complaints and medical staff's work.
CEO Kang said, "In the case of surgical patients, there are complaints because the medical staff checks the patient 5 to 6 times before surgery, and the work fatigue of medical staff also increases, which can cause errors. In this case, the patient and the hospital can suffer fatal damage, so measures to minimize it are necessary. The autonomous service robot that we are developing replaces the procedure for checking the information of the surgical patient, eliminating errors and increasing satisfaction of the patients and medical staff."
The motive for Damin Robot to participate in NIPA's 'Close-to-Life Contact-Free Leading Service Project' is that autonomous robots are suitable for solving the inconveniences of hospitals, which are closely related to people's lives. In particular, the company believes that it can take the lead in distributing contact-free services that are close to life by solving fatal errors that may occur due to the high intensity of work in hospitals through robots.
There are two basic functions of autonomous robots. It is a driving platform for autonomous driving performance and safety. Damin Robot possesses both of these technologies. It has also acquired safety certification (ISO13482) to ensure safety in a space where people coexist. Unlike robots from large corporations, the company's autonomous robots have the advantage of analyzing and reflecting customer requirements and manufacturing and supplying customized products. Customers' needs can be maximized with a multi-product with a small quantity production structure rather than mass production.
Damin Robot has experience supplying and applying production logistics robots to automobile parts factories. They also have the know-how to operate a factory site for autonomous driving-based logistics robots. In addition, a number of guidance robots were developed and delivered as products tailored to customer needs for guidance in museums, exhibition halls, and building information. Besides the 'Surgical guide robot', they supply rounds robots, social quarantine robots, and small logistics transport robots.
Damin Robot is looking for domestic and foreign sales partners. They are considering a company that supplies equipment to university hospitals, large hospitals, and small and medium-sized hospitals as the best partner. CEO Kang said, "Among the equipment needed by hospitals, there is a growing demand to improve intra-hospital logistics through autonomous driving-based robot services. By participating in the Close-to-Life Contact-Free Leading Service Project, interest is increasing from hospitals or companies who are supplying equipment to hospitals. Also, business cooperation offers are also being received."
Then, he said that safety is most important for autonomous robots that move in a space where people coexist. He continued, "Our robot platform is a product that has obtained safety certification (ISO13482). We are using 3D LiDAR sensor for detecting moving obstacles (including people), 2D LiDAR sensor, 3D camera, and sensors such as ultrasonic waves are optimally placed to enhance safety functions."
