/24-7PressRelease/ - SEATTLE, WA, May 14, 2008 - "All we can ask in our lives is that perhaps we can make a little difference in someone else's."
- Lillian Davis
There are so many needs and challenges in our modern world; it can seem overwhelming to try to make a difference. If you believe one person can't make a difference in the lives of others, read about three amazing women who are out to make a difference, one step at a time.
Gail Goodwin — Inspire Me Today
Gail Goodwin launched the Inspire Me Today online community as a way to reach out to those who need daily inspiration - our troops serving in Iraq.
"Young women and men separated from their spouse, children, and parents can be depressing enough by itself. But, when you are also trying to survive each day and just make it home so you can hold those loved ones in your arms again, any words of positive and uplifting inspiration can make all the difference in the world!"
Inspired by the success of their co-penned song, Baby Come Back Home, a military wife's story, the Goodwins created the Baby Come Back Home Soldier Scrolls. These scrolls, containing messages of love and support from hundreds of thousands of Americans and global citizens worldwide, reached 18 miles in length in December of 2005 when they were signed by Congress in Washington, DC. In January of 2006, the Goodwins delivered a mile of the scrolls to each of 18 different bases in Iraq and the Persian Gulf on a 29-day tour.
Kristen Marie Schuerlein — Positively Fundraising
Positively Fundraising is a division of Affirmagy Inc, a women-owned enterprise in Seattle, Washington. Affirmagy is committed to the notion that words have the power to encourage, enrich, and inspire people's lives. Positively Fundraising was created to serve non-profits with a turnkey system that makes it easy to raise money and fund their dreams.
"We made a turnkey system that make it easy for busy volunteers to work with us, so they can spend their time supporting the organization they love," says founder Kristen Marie Schuerlein.
PositivelyFundraising.com offers its customers downloadable catalogs, forms, tip sheets, and economical sample packs so that even those new to fundraising can quickly find success. Kids love holding up the vibrantly colored blankets while people read the affirmations. The kids take orders and buy only the blankets they've sold. Youth group leaders love that they can raise money and don't have to buy a bunch of inventory in advance.
Geri Weis-Corbley — Good News Network
A former TV reporter, Geri Weis-Corbley launched the Good News Network with a passion to serve others with doses of positive news. GNN started in 1997 as a way to reach out to other people with a positive message.
"I want to be the first person to really prove that good news sells, says Weis-Corbley."
For over 10 years, Geri has slowly but surely grown the Good News Network so when you search for good news on Google, GNN comes up. Colin Powell and other national leaders are fans of GNN.
Each in their own way, Gail, Kristen and Geri are examples that changing the world doesn't have to be complicated and we don't have to wait for the perfect moment - you just do it. One person, one day, one step at a time.
