WILMINGTON, NC, May 10, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Kishanda Fulford's new book, 'The Spite Of Fortune', has been released to rave reviews. In 'The Spite Of Fortune' readers will discover the captivating world of Louisa Carolina Colleton, whose life far out-strips the adventures of the heroine of any Gothic novel. Bestselling author Donna Fletcher Crow sat down with Fulford to delve deeper into the research and inspiration behind this compelling biography, and shared her fascinating insights in an exclusive interview. You won't want to miss out on the secrets uncovered in this interview, which you can find on Crow's blog at https://donnafletchercrow.com/articles.php. Be sure to read Crow's review of 'The Spite Of Fortune' in the same article.
Crow said about her interview: "Kishanda Fulford first mentioned her project of writing about her husband's ancestress in an interview she gave me in 2021 (which is also on my website). She said that it would be coming out "next year" and I responded that I looked forward to reading the book and interviewing her again when that happened.
"As a passionate Jane Austen scholar, I am interested in all aspects of life in the 18th century. I was certain that the life of this previously unknown real-life heroine would add important insights into the life of a woman of that time. Not only is Kishanda's subject her husband's forebearer, but also Kishanda is a former journalist and a Janeite herself—no one could be better placed to undertake this project.
"The vicissitudes of the publishing world being what they are, it's not surprising that the completed project took considerably longer, but it was well worth waiting for. And, once again, Kishanda was gracious and generous in her interview. Knowing what a busy lady she is as a mother of 4, wife of controversial media figure Francis Fulford, and chatelaine of Great Fulford, one of the principal country manors of England, I only requested her press kit when I finally heard of the book's release.
"In her usual magnanimous way, Kishanda replied that she didn't have a prepared press kit, but would be happy to answer my questions. I was delighted to learn of the depth, challenges, and vicissitudes of Kishanda's meticulous research process which took her, like her subject, back and forth across the Atlantic ocean several times and involved a close-up encounter with an alligator, among other adventures.
"I am also honoured that Kishanda allowed me to publish a little-known portrait of her heroine that came to light only after her book was published. And I was delighted at Kishanda's response to my query as to whether she felt she shared characteristics with her stalwart subject, as I strongly suspect she does."
