EAU CLAIRE, WI, June 14, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Realityworks, Inc., a leader in experiential learning solutions, is excited to announce that its Knee and Ankle Sports Injury Assessment Trainer was named the Career Readiness Solution of the Year by the EdTech Breakthrough Awards. In its fifth year, the annual awards program honors technologies and companies that drive innovation and exemplify the best in educational technology solutions. Realityworks' Knee and Ankle Sports Injury Assessment Trainer was chosen by a panel of EdTech industry experts for its innovation, design and user experience.
"It's an honor to be recognized for our internally developed Knee and Ankle Sports Injury Assessment Trainer," said Timm Boettcher, Realityworks President and CEO. "By simulating common sports-related injuries, this one-of-a-kind trainer allows students to develop their assessment and diagnostic skills, providing them with the hands-on experience necessary to succeed in their career."
Realityworks' Knee and Ankle Sports Injury Assessment Trainer features articulating joints and muscles that give students hands-on practice assessing a variety of common ligament and tendon tears. Additionally, a dial enables users to customize the degree of the injury's impact for added realism. Students can evaluate three different knee injuries and four ankle injuries: ACL, MCL, LCL, ATFL, CFL, deltoid ligament, and Achilles tendon. The model can be flipped upside down, sideways, and off the edge of the table to practice different injury evaluations.
Without this trainer, students only get to feel these injuries by performing diagnostic tests on uninjured peers, or injured athletes. They are limited to injuries that happen to occur while they are learning (and in those cases, tests can cause further pain and discomfort for the athlete). With this trainer, students can feel a variety of injuries at different degrees and test the injuries as much as needed to feel confident in a diagnosis without fear of harming anyone.
"Trainers like this create a 'win-win' situation for both students and teachers. Students win because they can practice skills repeatedly until they obtain confidence and competence. Teachers win because they can provide consistent learning experiences for all students across the board," said Molly Kellgren, PhD, RN, Health Science Education Product Manager for Realityworks. "Any time we can offer hands-on experiences that are realistic, we are creating learning opportunities that our students never forget. They carry that learning with them into their professional practice."
This is the fifth consecutive year Realityworks has been honored with awards for their hands-on learning aids. Their Blood Pressure Simulator, ECG Simulator, Hydroponics Educational Systems and others have all been previously recognized for their innovation and impact on education. Realityworks' Knee and Ankle Sports Injury Assessment Trainer belongs to a growing line of tools focused on bringing realism into the classroom and teaching in-demand skills.
