Joyce E. Hickey, RN, MA, PNS Inducted into Cambridge Who's Who Executive, Professional and Entrepreneurial Registry

    /24-7PressRelease/ - Narragansett, RI, September 18, 2008, Joyce E. Hickey, Director of Nursing Services for South Shore Mental Health Center has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of psychiatric nursing.

With an impressive background of more than 32 years of nursing experience, Ms. Hickey specializes in treating patients with mental illness. As director of nursing services, her primary responsibilities include developing the nursing philosophy, implementing policies and procedures, supervising staff, coordinating nursing care of the Assertiveness Community Team, community, residential and child care services, and overseeing infection control. She considers successfully implementing the quality improvement program at Massachusetts Mental Health Center to be her greatest professional accomplishment. Ms. Hickey is a recipient of the H. Kelley Psychology Department Award from Salve Regina University and the National Alliance on Mental Illness Appreciation Award from Massachusetts Mental Health Center. She became involved in her profession because of her interest in psychology and attributes her success to her education and to the support she receives from her mentors.

Currently pursuing her Master of Science in Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist Studies at the University of Rhode Island, Ms. Hickey received her Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Boston College with Distinction, and graduated cum laude from Salve Regina University with a Bachelor of Science and Arts in Nursing and Psychology. She also holds a Certification in Behavioral Primary Healthcare from the University of Massachusetts. A Board Certified Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, she is licensed as an independent practitioner. Ms. Hickey is a Rhode Island Behavioral Health Team crisis responder.
