/24-7PressRelease/ - Detroit, MI, September 19, 2008, Dr. Samina Jamil, an esteemed pediatrician and neonatologist at Detroit Medical Center, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of pediatric and neonatal healthcare.
For the past 21 years, Dr. Jamil has been dedicated to treating neonatal and pediatric patients. She has worked in Pakistan, the United States, and in the neonatal intensive care unit at King Fahd Armed Forces Hospital in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. She underwent training in her specialities at Christ Hospital, Cook County Hospital and the University of Illinois Hospital. She is an assistant clinical professor of Wayne State University School of Medicine's Department of Pediatrics. She presented a paper on prematurity problems at the Islamic Medical Association of North America's Annual Scientific Conference in Washington, D.C. in 2002 and was awarded a plaque for her presentation on retinopathy of prematurity (ROP), a disease of the eye that affects prematurely born, at the Annual Conference of Ophthalmology in Quetta, Pakistan in 1998. In 2003, Dr. Jamil received the Clinical Educator Best Paper Award at the Islamic Medical Association of North America's Annual Scientific Conference in Anchorage, Alaska, sponsored by Howard University. In 2004, she presented an update on ROP in Durban, South Africa.
Board certified in pediatrics and neonatology, Dr. Jamil attended Fatima Jinnah Medical College in Lahore, Pakistan.
She is a member of the Michigan State Medical Society, the American Medical Association, and the American Academy of Pediatrics. She supports the Huda Clinic in Detroit both financially and as a volunteer physician.
