/24-7PressRelease/ - Toms River, NJ, September 19, 2008, Anthony V. Chiariello, Author, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of writing and research.

After two decades of working in Catholic advancement offices, Mr. Chiariello decided that it was time to finally turn his attention to a project that had been on his mind for years—a book about a family tragedy that occurred 27 years ago. His brother Henry, a popular teacher and champion wrestling coach at Greenville High School in South Carolina, was conducting class one morning when he was fatally stabbed by a student. Very little is known about the events that led to that day. Hoping to meet people who can tell him about his brother and the young woman who killed him, Mr. Chiariello began his investigation by visiting Greenville, SC early last August, telling a newspaper there that the book is a chance for him and his family to find some clarity after all these years.

Still, Mr. Chiariello believes that there are two sides, even to this story. Jewel Garrett, the student who was convicted of murdering Henry Chiariello, was sentenced to life in prison in 1982 and has been denied parole every year since 2001. She was alleged to have suffered from a mental disorder at the time the crime was committed. Mr. Chiariello is determined to include her story in his book, be it through her or through people who knew her. "I hope I'm writing this as objectively as I can, in the sense that maybe there were some factors that led her to do this. I would like to delve into that," he told the local paper. "I think there's not only his story, there's her story."

Prior to taking up writing full-time, Mr. Chiariello served Saint Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Toms River for eight years. As the director of development/capital campaign, he was responsible for organizing meetings pertaining to fundraising, particularly capital campaign matters. Also a former educator, he is a certified Spanish and social studies teacher with a Bachelor's Degree in Spanish, plus 18 credits, from Iona College. At present, Mr. Chiariello is a member of the board of directors of the Monmouth-Ocean Development Council (MODC) and the chairperson of the MODC Non Profit Committee for the last four years. He also serves as the treasurer of the MODC Education Foundation. The 2007 recipient of the prestigious Silver Gull Award for Individual Service to MODC, Mr. Chiariello plans to devote the rest of his career to writing, teaching and counseling.
