HOPKINSVILLE, KY, September 26, 2008 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Daniel David Nicholson, Chairman of Pennyrile Regional Citizens Corps Council, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of public service.
Mr. Nicholson excels in utilizing his negotiation, communication and people skills and is primarily responsible for overseeing the daily operations of nine councils as well as serving as Deputy Director of Christian County Emergency Management. Also a general instructor for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, he previously served with Special Forces Logistics of the U.S. Army. He considers responding to disasters to be the most fulfilling aspect of his career. A recipient of the Kentucky Colonel Award, he attributes his success to his tenacity, determination and believing anything can be done - as long as one never quits. Mr. Nicholson received the 2007 Volunteer of the Year Award from Kentucky Homeland Security and the President's Lifetime Achievement Award for volunteering over 4,000 hours of his time.
A Certified Weapons of Mass Destruction Instructor, Mr. Nicholson received his Bachelor of Arts in Business Management from Methodist University in 1988 and his certification from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. He also completed FEMA's Professional Development Series "for study in emergency management, incident command and disaster planning/response." He is a former member of the Association of Purchasing Management and hopes to become a mentor in the future and offer instruction at a local college.
