SAINT HELENA, CA, October 11, 2008 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Maureen Roddy-Rookwood, Counselor at St. Helena Hospital Center for Behavioral Health of Adventist Health Chemical Dependency Recovery Program, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all its of chemical dependency counseling, education and rehabilitation.
With 25 years of professional experience, Ms. Rookwood is responsible for counseling, lecturing on all subjects of alcohol, drug education and rehabilitation to addicted clients, their families, loved ones and the interested public. Her recovery from alcoholism prompted her desire to assist other alcoholics and addicts put their disease into remission and guide them to put their lives back together. She attributes her success to caring, understanding and her continued learning of the latest discoveries and research information in her field.
Ms. Rookwood is a Certified Master Addiction and Domestic Violence Counselor with a Certified Criminal Justice Specialist endorsement from the National Association of Forensic Counselors and The National Board of Addictions Examiners. Ms. Rookwood received her Master's Degree in Health Sciences Administration/Drug and Alcohol Education & Rehabilitation from Antioch University in 1985. She holds a teaching Credential in Health & Physical Care Services and Related Technologies. She received her Counseling and Alcohol Certificates from the University of California, Berkeley Extension in 1984. She has been a member of the Board of Directors for Problems of Addiction in Labor and Management (PALM) since 1988 and was Chairman from 1997 to 2000. She was a member of the People to People Ambassador program on Aging delegation to China in 2005, the Director for the National Council of Alcoholism and other Drug Addiction-Bay Area's DUI Program from 1994 to 1996. She is a former Professor for National Academy and was Alcohol Instructor for the University of San Francisco from 1991 to 1993. She devotes her spare time to volunteering for KAIROS Prison Ministry, which works with Vacaville and Folsom State Prison inmates in California.
