Ms. Merket has more than two decades of professional experience in farming and excels in bookkeeping. As the owner of a farm that grows Christmas trees, she is in charge of overseeing all farming operations and caring for animals. She decided to specialize in Christmas trees upon discovering a sizeable market in Beckville, and attributes her success to her ability to provide a quality product and her commitment to customer satisfaction. She considers supplying both the governor and the speaker of the house of Texas with Christmas trees and to President G.W. Bush at Camp David to be her proudest professional accomplishment to date.

A product of Panola College, Ms. Merket received an Associate's Degree in Business in 1983. She is a member of the Texas Christmas Tree Growers Association, Gold Wing Road Riders Association. In her spare time, she volunteers with her local Head Start program.
