WASHINGTON, DC, December 01, 2008 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Virginia makeup artist Victoria Stiles has worked with celebrities and actresses for several years, including Star Jones, Emme and Olivia Thirlby. Recently Stiles has been working with a number of celebrity clients in the music industry including American Idol Winner Jordin Sparks and recently, jazz singer Melody Gardot. Gardot was in Paris on world tour and being shot for her album cover and promotional materials.
"Melody Gardot is a great upcoming talent and a beautiful girl, so I was thrilled to be her makeup artist - and to style her makeup in Paris, France was an incredible experience. Because this shoot was for her album and promotional materials it was very important that we get her look exactly right. I wanted to work with her personal style and I used all of my skills to make sure we amplified her natural beauty and "Melody Gardot look," explained Stiles.
As personal branding becomes more and more important in the image of celebrities and musicians, the role of the makeup artist becomes more critical. Creating a custom personal look with makeup communicates a great deal about the artist, especially in significant promotional print materials.
"I worked with Bobbi Brown Cosmetics to create a great look for her. We worked with a limited edition palette and the look lasted through a 12 hour shoot all over Paris. After this marathon promotional session, I knew the products and the look would translate really effectively to everyday women - so I decided to write an article for BeyondBeautyBasics.com to introduce the products and the techniques I used to our readership," explained Stiles.
BeyondBeautyBasics.com is a website dedicated to beauty, fashion, health and style. With contributions from several industry leaders in each category, this website is introducing women to tips and techniques they might not otherwise have access to. Stiles felt that the shoot with Gardot was a perfect experience to cover so she took the time to break down the brand, colors and application technique of the shoot for women and makeup artists online everywhere.
"As a contributing editor for BeyondBeautyBasics.com I'm always looking for great experiences that exemplify "a look" because that's what our readers want. They want to be able to see a gorgeous celebrity in a photo shoot and replicate the look so when I worked as Melody Gardot's personal makeup artist in Paris, France I knew I needed to explain the look and capture the experience for our readers. Also, her makeup literally stayed gorgeous for 12 hours with minimal touching up. That is the kind of product women want to know about," said Stiles.
Styling the makeup for Gardot's in Paris, France, Stiles worked with makeup brand Bobbi Brown for a soft and elegant "Old Hollywood" look. Using metallic and pearlescent eye shadows, long wear gel eyeliner and lengthening mascara, not only can anyone buy just the right products to achieve the look, but Ms. Stiles also explains a number of the techniques she uses to achieve the "smoky eye" a popular but difficult to achieve look.
"As a jazz singer, Melody loves a dramatic look. She typically worked with liquid eyeliner and smoky shadows and she always looks great, but it was fun to expose her to some new products, especially the long wear gel eye liner from Bobbi Brown, because it creates the drama but without any harsh lines. I know many women who would love to achieve this same look for an evening out and I love the idea of empowering women to look their best with my tips and techniques," explained Stiles.
Victoria Stiles Makeup Artist is excited to continue writing articles for BeyondBeautyBasics.com as she continues flourishing in her career as a makeup artist to celebrities and performers in the Washington DC area and beyond.
