Over a ten-month period, the Envisa team, worked with Gore on the market research, design, development, integration and delivery of a new online presence at www.inlightenscreens.com. The web site serves as the hub for brand communication, configuring, ordering, fulfilling, and tracking the new Gore product line. The GORE inLighten screens initiative focused on establishing the new consumer brand and product, developed an infrastructure to support product ordering and fulfillment, and built a unique selling channel from the ground up to service the needs of discriminating do-it-yourself home owners.
The GORE inLighten framed screens are custom-made to fit almost any window and are sold exclusively online. Because of this, it was imperative that the e-commerce site have a simple, reliable, and easy-to-use product configuration and purchase process - one that carefully guides the user and provides clear, instantaneous feedback throughout the process. The end result is a streamlined site architecture and an interactive product design tool that allows consumers to configure and purchase a custom product with a range of options to accurately replace their current window screens. Additionally, home improvement contractors and interior decorators were provided access to professional selling programs and marketing communications.
The GORE inLighten screens project team leveraged Envisa's online retail web development expertise to conduct usability testing with homeowners to evaluate prototype web designs and iterative upgrades of the online solution. In-depth consumer insights were key to tailoring the design, content and feature-functionality of the final website.
The resulting solution was developed as a custom Java application running on a JBoss application server with an Oracle database. The site integrates with IBM's WebSphere Commerce checkout components, and uses AJAX technology and XHTML/CSS for front-end presentation.
