TAMPA, FL, January 19, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- January 29 - February 2, 2009: As the playoff field narrows and the tailgating season ends for millions of football fans across the NFL and NCAA, one event still shines as brightly as the pre-season hopes for a Lombardi trophy. This month, top tailgaters from all over the nation will converge at Super 'Gate II in Tampa, Florida for what has been dubbed "The Super Brawl of Tailgating."
Super 'Gate II pledges to:
· Give tailgaters a place to party before the biggest football game of the year.
· Celebrate the hot trend of tailgating by bringing together tailgaters from teams across the country.
· Be a fun, interactive, event for the fans with contests, entertainment, and of course, tailgating!
· Provide a place to park, stay, and party for a minimal cost, and with minimal restrictions.
It will also be the host to the 2nd Annual Tailgate Decathlon. Tailgating teams are invited to come and compete in ten popular tailgate contests to earn points and try to win the title of Grand Champions. Events include staples like beer pong, tailgate toss, and flip cup, as well as The Blacktop's Best BBQ Open, Cholula Chicken Wing Bowl and the Blacktop Babe beauty pageant.
Super 'Gate '08 Grand Champions Tailgater's BBQ Party (Oakland Raiders) will "Cruise Across America" on their mission to defend their title. Last year, their tailgate featured the legendary Grillzilla, smoke machines, and a portable hot tub. Organizer Kingsford Kirk promises this year, "we're bringing it bigger, badder, and better."
Tailgaters from every sport, team, and conference are encouraged to bring their Radical Rigs and killer tailgate set-ups down to camp, cook, and compete for four days with other tailgate enthusiasts. "Of course, our primary goal is to make sure that the true fans have a place to park and party before the Super Bowl. Over the past few years, the Super Bowl ban on tailgating has made that impossible. Fans of the Bears, Colts, Giants or Patriots arrived in the host cities to discover they would not be allowed to tailgate before the game. We want to make sure that they have a place to go," explains Super 'Gate founder and spokesperson, Jay "The Tailgate Guy" DiEugenio. "But beyond that, we want to bring together people who share this passion - whether they tailgate in Happy Valley or at the Meadowlands, or Turn 3 at Vegas Speedway - Super 'Gate is their chance to show their stuff."
"Thanks to the support of some great sponsors like Cholula Hot Sauce and Camp Chef, and Premium Seats USA, we have been able to secure a parking lot close to the stadium for our event, and can provide all the amenities these tailgaters need to do their thing."
The cost is $300 for a 20x40 site (January 29 - February 2), and includes participation in all of the events. Day of Game parking/tailgating is also available. For complete details and reservations, visit www.SuperGateII.com.
