QUINCY, MA, April 24, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Robert F. Campbell Jr. Memorial Hockey Tournament, an annual event founded to raise money for leukemia research and patient care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, will return to the Quincy Youth Arena on May 1 & 2, 2009. Celebrating its 10 year milestone, this event is the only officially approved hockey tournament to support the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
WHAT:
The Robert F. Campbell Jr. Memorial Hockey Tournament was established in memory of Whitman, Mass. resident Rob Campbell. Rob lost his battle with acute myelogenous leukemia (AML) in 1985 at the age of 21. Rob was a 1982 Whitman-Hanson High School graduate and an accomplished hockey player. This year's event will feature the Massachusetts State Police Hockey Team as well as former professional and collegiate hockey players from the New England area.
Since founding the event, the physician-scientists at Dana-Farber have made important headway to improve the outlook for patients diagnosed with AML. Our success is made possible in part by generous local companies including these Gold level sponsors: EchoStor Technologies; Global Data Systems; Hillcrest Electric Corporation; Lincoln Investment Planning; Mortgage Options of America, Inc.; President Titanium; Soul Estate; and Sunshine Pool Company.
