DARLINGTON, WI, April 30, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Redbird Armor announces two new NIOSH approved N95 disposable respirators to be used by the workforce and the general public in the event of a medical health emergency such as pandemic influenza.
Known as the NT-V Mask, this one-of-a-kind NIOSH approved respirator mask neutralizes viruses and bacteria on contact potentially helping to reduce the spread of infection and absenteeism in the workforce. Infectious airborne viruses and bacteria are neutralized on the mask surface prior to entering the respiratory system potentially decreasing inhalation exposure to these pathogens. Infectious viruses and bacteria, expelled during coughing and sneezing, are captured and neutralized inside the mask helping to reduce the chances of viral and bacterial disease pathogens from becoming airborne.
The new Pasture General Public Use (GPU) Masks are not only NIOSH approved N95 respirators, but are now cleared by the FDA for General Public Use in a public health medical emergency such as pandemic influenza. While not for occupational use, these GPU masks meet fit assessment criteria and are recommended for the adult population without requiring a fit test. They are hypoallergenic are designed for superior comfort making it easier to breathe through and easier to wear for the untrained user.
The CDC recommends that if ill persons must go into the community (e.g., to seek medical care) they should wear a face mask to reduce the risk of spreading the virus in the community when they cough, sneeze, talk or breathe. If a face mask is unavailable, ill persons needing to go into the community should use a handkerchief or tissues to cover any coughing.
Both the NT-V Mask and the Pasture masks are distributed by Redbird Armor and are an essential readiness tool to help prepare for public health emergencies.
